"KOOL ELECTRIC RESISTOR"

Consumer electronics manufacturers, the United States military and IBM all placed orders for the resistor. It would come to be used in household appliances, computers and guided missiles – and is still used in many of those devices to this very day. But, perhaps most importantly, a version of his resistor was used in the invention of the pacemaker. That device, which keeps the heart beating regularly through electronic pulses, has helped to extend the lives of hundreds of thousands of individuals.

"KOOL RESPECT"

Never use your coolness to put people down, even if everyone else is doing it. With great power comes great responsibility!
Always stick up for people, and don't bully others, because to be cool, means to be liked by everyone, including those who are not as socially high-ranking as yourself.
Don't try to be a stereotype. Act the way you want to and listen to the music you want to. Dress the way you want to. Being cool is being you. Find out who you are and then be true to it. That's cool.
Do not belittle others to make yourself feel stronger.

" KOOL TELECOMMUNICATIONS"

Dr. Shirley Jackson started to conduct successful experiments in theoretical physics and then started to use her knowledge in physics to start making advances in telecommunications while working at Bell Laboratories. These inventions include developments in the portable fax, touch tone telephone, solar cell, and the fiber optic cables used to provide clarity in overseas telephone calls. She has also helped make possible Caller ID and Call Waiting.

" KOOL ATTITUDES"

Change your attitude--if you have a negative attitude change it. Cool people always have a positive attitude. No one likes a negative person. When people get to know you and see that you always have a positive look on things even when things are not going your way, they will enjoy your company.
If any bad thing happens in your life, don't keep thinking about it forever. Get over it. It's not the end of the world. Sooner or later, everyone else will forget about it, too.

"KOOL SURGEON"

On this date in 1893, the first successful American open-heart surgery was performed by a Black surgeon, Dr. Daniel Hale Williams. Dr. Daniel Williams completed the operation on a young man named James Cornish. He had been rushed to Provident Hospital in Chicago--a hospital which Dr. Williams had founded and one of the few hospitals that welcomed African Americans--with a stab wound. Williams repaired the wound with the use of sutures.

"KEEPING IT REAL" KOOL

Dr. Mark Dean started working at IBM in 1980 and was instrumental in the invention of the Personal Computer (PC). He holds three of IBM's original nine PC patents and currently holds more than 20 total patents. The famous African-American inventor never thought the work he was doing would end up being so useful to the world, but he has helped IBM make instrumental changes in areas ranging from the research and application of systems technology circuits to operating environments. One of his most recent computer inventions occurred while leading the team that produced the 1-Gigahertz chip, which contains one million transistors and has nearly limitless potential.
